Madeira Island is a lovely, quiet, clean paradise . It has a lot of nature that is absolutely stunning. Our main attractions are Levada Walks (walks following water channels which relay water from the mountains down to the farmers), fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean, dolphin watching either in a catamaran or in a exact replica of the Santa Maria caravel ( used by Christopher Columbus during his travels), many museums including one of the richest museum of Sacred Art in Europe. We also have fantastic restaurants on the island, some gourmet , some specializing in fish and seafood, and some specializing in Espetada (which is our traditional meat on the skewer, cooked over open fire) and milho frito (fried maize) as well as our very own delicious bread called bolo do caco. This bread is not cooked in the oven. If you are looking to spend a lazy day on the beach, you can hop onto the ferry and spend a glorious day in Porto Santo, our sister island which boasts a 16 km stretch of golden sandy beach.
Quite time in Madeira is usually after 22:000. You need to respect your neighbours, keep the common areas clean and separate your garbage.
